August 2012
Henry Ward and Manu Kumar (founder of K9 Ventures) found eShares to digitise inefficient, frustrating paper share certificates for startups and investors.March 2014
Branching out from cap tables for the first time, the team at eShares launches a second product: 409A valuations as a subscription-based service.November 2017
eShares becomes Carta – a name inspired by the Magna Carta, which laid the groundwork for legal rights to private ownership.April 2018
Carta launches Fund Administration to address how venture capital investments, and all of their associated workflows are managed.June and Aug 2022
Carta acquires Vauban and Capdesk – two London-based equity management platforms – to continue expanding its presence in Europe and the UK.October 2024
Carta acquires Tactyc, a streamlined forecasting and planning solution for venture funds.November 2024
Carta announces an exclusive partnership with Morgan Stanley at Work, its preferred public equity management platform for companies planning to IPO.September 2025
Carta unveils NYSE as its preferred listing venue for private companies and integrates Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s services into its platform.
